Privacy Policy
effective November 1, 2026
This policy explains how SilkRoute Online Inc. ("SilkRoute", "we", "us") handles personal information on this website (the "Site"). We operate from British Columbia, Canada, where the Personal Information Protection Act ("PIPA") sets the rules for how organizations handle personal information.
The SilkRoute product isn't available yet. This policy covers the Site as it runs today, and we will update it when the product launches.
What we collect
Your email address. If you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you enter.
Messages. If you write to us, we collect your email address and what you send us.
Technical information. When you visit the Site, our hosting provider may process information such as your IP address, browser, device, the pages you request and the time of your request. Google may process similar information when you send the waitlist form.
The Site doesn't ask for a wallet, private keys or payment details.
Why we collect it
We use this information to run the waitlist, contact you about SilkRoute and your invitation, reply to you, deliver and protect the Site, and meet our legal obligations. We won't use it for a new purpose without your consent, unless the law allows it.
Consent and withdrawal
By joining the waitlist or writing to us, you consent to our collecting, using and sharing your information as this policy describes. You can withdraw your consent at any time by writing to our privacy contact, subject to legal limits. If you do, we'll remove you from the waitlist and won't be able to send you an invitation.
Cookies and browser storage
The Site has no ads, analytics or tracking, and we don't set advertising or tracking cookies.
The Site keeps two small items in your own browser. Your cookie choice stays in local storage so we don't ask again, and you can change it under "Cookie settings" in the footer. A marker that the logo intro has played stays in session storage, so the intro doesn't replay during your visit. Neither is sent to us. You can clear both in your browser settings.
Who we share it with
The waitlist form is submitted through Google Forms, so Google processes your email address on our behalf. Our hosting and email providers process information to run the Site and handle messages. We may also disclose information where the law requires it. We do not sell personal information.
Storage outside Canada
Google and our other providers may store and process information in the United States and other countries outside Canada. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of those countries, and their authorities may be able to access it.
Safeguards
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, and the Site is served over HTTPS. No system is perfectly secure.
Retention
We keep your email address while the waitlist runs, or until you ask us to remove it. We keep messages for as long as we need them to deal with your request. Providers keep technical logs according to their own settings. We may keep information longer where the law requires it, and we delete what we no longer need.
Access and correction
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, how we've used it and who we've shared it with. You can ask us to correct it or delete it. Write to our privacy contact. We'll respond within the time the law requires, and the law may limit some requests.
Children
The Site is for adults only. We don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of majority where they live, usually 18 or 19 depending on the jurisdiction.
Other sites
The Site links to other sites, such as X and LinkedIn. They have their own privacy policies, and we don't control what they do with your information.
Privacy contact
Our privacy contact is our Privacy Officer. Write to support@silkroute.online with "Privacy" in the subject.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we handled your information, please write to our privacy contact first. You also have the right to complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (www.oipc.bc.ca). If you live elsewhere, your local privacy laws may give you other rights and another regulator.
Changes
We will update this policy when the product launches, and whenever our practices change. Changes take effect when posted here with a new effective date.
